ALLUSIONAL PROPER NAMES IN GERMAN EVERYDAY DISCOURSE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the pragmatic, namely, the comic potential of proper names in German everyday discourse. The case phenomenon of proper names, their informative richness and cultural background determine the allusive functioning of names in modern speech, which is distinguished by a considerable degree of intertextuality. Examples collected by the author from various sources (scientific publications to the problems of proper names, dictionaries, Internet forums, personal records), allusive proper names, possessing a certain comic degree and which are interesting in terms of its linguistic creation mechanisms, are systematized according to the classes of names: place names, brand names. The description of each individual group of names is based on the typology of language and speech techniques that serve as a mechanism for creating a comic: homonymy, polysemy, contamination, deonymization, disabbration etc. Allusive proper names are also considered in the cultural historical aspect, since jokes with onims are often designed for background knowledge of communicants, and, therefore, the results of their analysis can be useful in terms of acquaintance with the culture, traditions and customs of the country of the learning language.
